Tom broke 100, golfing! Yah!

Tom and Bridget went golfing this morning with Bo and Jeff Allen. The weather was beautiful, but they still had a 2 hr. frost delay before they could tee off. However, their patience paid off for Tom. He played one of his best games ever! (I told him that it must be due to the new golfing shirt he got from Parri and John for his bday, but he informed me it was the new clubs he got for Christmas...oh.)This is the second time ever that he's broken 100- so here is the proof! I couldn't get the whole card in one pic, so you'll see the names in the first pic and the scores in the second pic...Tom's is the middle one....98 baby! Bridget was the official score keeper, that's why you can actually read it :)

Bree's First Track Meet!

This is Bree in the 75 meter hurdles and the 100 meter sprint- her very first. She is on the far left in the beginning of the video....you'll notice that she's quite a bit smaller than most of her counterparts, but she has spunk! We are proud of her! Go Huskies!

SOCCER FEVER....(or delerium, I'm not sure which!)

OK, long story short, Parri and I have been wanting to start a women's soccer team for about 2-3 yrs. but it just has never worked out yet. So a couple of weeks ago we decided we were just gonna do it! There's a local indoor soccer place in Bremeton that holds all different leagues of play. We called a bunch of friends and in less than 2 hrs., had enough interest to put together a good size team! Our season doesn't start until June 5th, which means that we have some time to get into shape. Perfect. Neither of us has ever played indoor soccer and thought it might be wise to go down there and see the fields, kick some balls around etc.....So, we met up there this morning, payed our $3 and headed down to the field. There was 8 ladies there we didn't know, but looked like they all knew each other and were maybe there for a practice. No problem, there's more than one field--we're thinking. As we are down putting on our new, fresh-smelling leather shoes, some of the ladies come over and invite us to play a game with them. What???!!!?? "Oh no, thank you very much for the invitation, but neither of us has played for over 10 yrs., we just came down to kick some balls around". Well, those ladies were not about to take "no" for an answer, because they were short on players and didn't have enough. So, we get roped into a game. Parri and I exchange nervous looks, but decide to take our chances. I mean, how bad could it be?? After all two of the women are in their 60's and the rest are about our age, give or take. They assured us it was really low-key, just for fun. They were right, but someone forgot to tell that to my legs!!! 5 minutes into the game my lungs were on FIRE!! Parri came over and asked if my lungs were burning and if that was normal??? I said "when you are as out-of-shape as we are, it is." I almost quit at that point, but somehow convinced myself that I could just take it a little easy. (Easy isn't an option when a 60 yr. old woman is beating you to the ball!! ) My legs went to jelly 2 different times as I was running for a ball and I almost fell! NO JOKE! Even with Parri and I playing, we were short 1 player for each team, so there were no subs! We ended up playing for over an hour straight--sprinting! (well as close as I can get to it at this stage) We really had a great time and some of the old skills came back, (have you ever heard the phrase "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak"?)but I have a feeling that I may have to spend the rest of the weekend in bed! I was breathing so hard after the game that as I was driving home, I almost had to pull over because I was getting light-headed, ready to black out. So there you have it, the utter humiliation of a former athlete who thinks they are still young!
(PS we are planning to go and play again next week :) )

Portland, Oregon

Portland Oregon

Tom and I got the chance for a quick get away this weekend to Portland, Oregon. My cousin had his wedding reception and seemed like the perfect opportunity to go. Thanks to the wonderful perks of Dean's (Tom's Dad) employment with Marriott, we got to stay at the beautiful Downtown Marriott for $50! The reception was really nice and it was fun to see some family. Since we were kid-free, we woke up when we wanted to this morning and had the best breakfast at the Marriott restaurant.....for FREE! Turns out the lady at the front desk thought that we had to wait a little too long to check in and she gave us a voucher for free breakfast, can't beat that! After breakfast, we were off to find the house where my parents lived when I was born....very humble beginnings! (see pic--it actually looks smaller in person) Then we went to the Portland Saturday Market. We saw some interesting people and things (see other pic of my new "glasses") After that we headed to Woodburn to the outlet stores (about 25 min. away) and got a few things. It turns out that Tigard has a "Stuffed Chicken Tortilla Factory", so you can guess where we ate lunch...AGAIN! (See previous posting if you aren't familiar with this restaurant.) The ride home seemed so quiet without 4 kids in the backseat. We stopped at the Cabela's store and Tom spend his giftcard on some hunting pants. We also tried out the shooting gallery...please watch the slideshow and note that the score on the RIGHT side is mine :) So all in all, a busy, but PERFECT weekend away!

Happy Birthday Tom!!!

Happy Birthday Tom! We celebrated Tom's 36th birthday last night! Can you believe it? Tom says that's just "an old number". I disagree, he's still just as handsome as ever! I made him the birthday cake of his choice and even found the dulce de leche ice cream he likes. Everytime we go to Disneyland, he has to go to the Haagen Dazs store and get a dulce de leche milkshake-this is as close as we get here! What a lucky guy to have 5 cute girls to celebrate his bday with! We got him the new golf bag he's been asking for, it's a nice Callaway one. That's the only thing that's been holding him back from joining the pro tour- the bag. :) On Friday or Saturday, we'll head to Seattle to go to Tom's favorite restaurant The Stuffed Chicken Tortilla Factory (the rest of us know it as The Cheesecake Factory) This crazy guy doesn't even order cheesecake there--only their stuffed chicken tortillas! Anything for my man!
